Crude Oil Drilling

Could an offshore drilling platform to be aware of the well head pressure?

I suppose a drilling platform off shore is monioring pressure on oil in the well. If they have the pressure and the diameter of the pipe, would not it be trivial for the determination flow?

I also suppose that there was pressure monitoring at the point of connection. Unless you are not obligated to, and follow-up provide data on the magnitude of an accident, and that the authorities can fine accordingly. No pressure monitoring would be desirable for BP at this time. If a system working well, it is likely that only monitor with a flow meter in line at the platform of the well to know that the volume extracted.
